April 2023: Prof. Song has received the Outstanding Inventor Award and Student-Selected Outstanding Instructor Award from the School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering, WSU.

June 2019: Prof. Song has presented an invited seminar at Korea University (Seoul, Korea) in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering.

May 2019: Prof. Song has served as a co-organizer of “Carbon Nanostructures for Energy Conversion and Storage” for the 235th meeting of The Electrochemical Society (ECS) in Dallas, TX.

April 2019: Our group’s invited-review article on “Metal-organic Frameworks for Energy Storage” has been officially published online. Congratulations to Xiahui and Panpan for their valuable contributions to the academic community of this field. It is a huge early achievement!

April 2019: Prof. Song has received the Academic Advisor Excellence Award from the Graduate and Professional Student Association (GPSA) at WSU. It will remain as one of the most prestigious awards to him, and he promises to do his best to meet the expectations set in the early stage of his career.

April 2019: Michael has served as a guest columnist for The American Ceramic Society (ACerS) Bulletin on “Deciphering the Discipline.” It is a very well-written, compelling article!

April 2019: Panpan has received the Best Poster Presentation Award (the first place in the Engineering and Environmental Sciences category) for her research presented at the GPSA Research Exposition 2019 at WSU. Big congratulations! You have made us all proud.

March 2016: Michael has done it again! He has received a Crimson Award (the first place in the Engineering and Physical Science category) for his research presented at the Showcase for Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities (SURCA 2016) at WSU. Big congratulations!

March 2016: Michael has received the 2nd Best Oral Presentation Award at “Paper Night”, an ASM-sponsored annual research competition event for undergraduate students between WSU and University of Idaho.

March 2016: Michael has won the NASA Space Grant Scholarship for his undergraduate research in our lab! We are so happy for you and please keep up your good works.

January 2015: Dr. Min-Kyu Song has joined Washington State University as an Assistant Professor, effective January 1, 2015.
