The stretched, wrapped, and stitched nylon pieces express the disproportionate impact of climate change on people of color and the decades of putting up with its effects. The ephemerality of life and the unavoidable force of decay show the urgency of taking action now. We must make a change that will benefit everyone as well as the natural environment we live in.”

-Janet Rodriguez

Spice and Everything Nice, Dried lavender, ground cinnamon, tumeric powder, teal mesh

Janet Rodriguez is an Oregon-born multimedia artist of Mexican descent working in Vancouver, Washington.
