He started his PhD in the Department of Crop Sciences at Washington State University in Spring 2020, graduating in May 2024. The focus of his research was the utilization marker assisted selection to develop breeding lines and advanced elite material with malt quality and stem rust resistance as well as the incorporation of non-GN into distilling lines including Palmer. These projects will incorporate genotyping and malt quality analysis. This will expedite the development of both spring and winter WSU malting barley varieties.
