He received his Ph.D. in condensed matter physics from Changchun Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), followed by the training at University of Rochester and Department of Pharmacology at University of Illinois at Chicago. He was the recipient of NIH Career Development Award (K25) and Scientist Development Grant Award from American Heart Association. His current research focuses on the development of targeted drug delivery systems based on neutrophils (a type of white blood cells) and on understanding of blood vessel barriers to improve current therapies to cancer and infectious diseases. He has published over 40 peer-reviewed publications, such as in Nature Nanotechnology, Advanced Materials, ACS Nano, Biomaterials, Phys. Rev.
