Dr. Hongtao Dang serves at professional, departmental, institutional, national, and international levels at Washington State University and Beyond.
For example, Dr. Dang serves as the Associated Schools of Construction (ASC) Region 7 Director. Region 7 is Washington, Oregon, California, and Hawaii. Region 7 has 23 schools and over a hundred construction management faculty. Each school may have several student teams attend the ASC Region 6 & 7 Student Competition in Sparks, Nevada. Dr. Dang coordinated the event with the competition manager. The work impacted over 1600 students, 1600 professionals, and 200 students annually. It provides students with excellent learning experiences from real-world projects with industry professionals. It connects students and faculty to industrial professionals. I also manage a small grant program that awards four to five construction research projects each year.
Another example is serving as a reviewer for multiple journals and a panel reviewer for National Science Foundation (NSF) programs. As an NSF panel reviewer, Dr. Dang contributes his expertise to evaluate research proposals, ensuring funding for projects with significant scientific and societal impacts. This service includes reviewing submissions, discussing their merits, and offering feedback, influencing the direction of academic research and innovation.
