Our presentations covered&nbsp;cutting-edge&nbsp;topics such as AI-facilitated feedback, LLM-based concept map analysis, and 3D learning progressions.&nbsp;Our&nbsp;teams&nbsp;actively&nbsp;engaged&nbsp;in&nbsp;global educational research community through leadership roles in Special Interest Groups (SIGs).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Dr. Tingting Li served as the Chair for the Advanced Technologies for Learning (ATL) &amp; Learning Sciences SIG Joint Business Meeting, contributing to discussions on the integration of emerging AI and digital tools in educational&nbsp;settings.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Dr. Peng He, as a&nbsp;Communication&nbsp;Officer for the Technology, Instruction, Cognition and Learning (TICL) SIG, played a pivotal role in hosting a featured event&nbsp;and&nbsp;inviting&nbsp;Dr. Joseph Krajcik&nbsp;as discussant, shaping critical dialogues on the future of&nbsp;TICL topic.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"631\" height=\"472\" src=\"https:\/\/wpcdn.web.wsu.edu\/wp-labs\/uploads\/sites\/3565\/2026\/04\/image-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2351\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wpcdn.web.wsu.edu\/wp-labs\/uploads\/sites\/3565\/2026\/04\/image-1.png 631w, https:\/\/wpcdn.web.wsu.edu\/wp-labs\/uploads\/sites\/3565\/2026\/04\/image-1-300x224.png 300w, https:\/\/wpcdn.web.wsu.edu\/wp-labs\/uploads\/sites\/3565\/2026\/04\/image-1-150x112.png 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 631px) 100vw, 631px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center  wsu-font-size--medium\">AERA Advanced Technologies for Learning SIG and Learning Sciences SIG Business Meeting<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the NSTA&nbsp;conference,&nbsp;<strong>Dr.&nbsp;Tingting Li&nbsp;with Dr.&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>Joseph&nbsp;Krajcik and&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>Dr. Selin Akg\u00fcn<\/strong>&nbsp;led a&nbsp;1-day professional learning&nbsp;session for over 40 exceptional&nbsp;science&nbsp;teacher leaders and educators. The workshop focused on&nbsp;leveraging&nbsp;accessible AI&nbsp;tools\u2014including&nbsp;GPT, Gemini, and Claude\u2014to design high-quality assessment tasks aligned with the&nbsp;Next Generation Science Standards&nbsp;<strong>(NGSS)<\/strong>.&nbsp;This hands-on session provided teachers with practical strategies to integrate cutting-edge technology into their 3D teaching practices.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"684\" height=\"477\" src=\"https:\/\/wpcdn.web.wsu.edu\/wp-labs\/uploads\/sites\/3565\/2026\/04\/image-2.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2354\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wpcdn.web.wsu.edu\/wp-labs\/uploads\/sites\/3565\/2026\/04\/image-2.png 684w, https:\/\/wpcdn.web.wsu.edu\/wp-labs\/uploads\/sites\/3565\/2026\/04\/image-2-300x209.png 300w, https:\/\/wpcdn.web.wsu.edu\/wp-labs\/uploads\/sites\/3565\/2026\/04\/image-2-150x105.png 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 684px) 100vw, 684px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">Dr. Tingting Li co-led&nbsp;the GenAI workshop at NSTA 2026&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>At NARST,&nbsp;<\/strong>the CAIRE team&nbsp;demonstrated&nbsp;significant research depth with a diverse portfolio of work.&nbsp;Our contributions spanned several sessions, covering critical topics such as automated scoring, 3D Learning,&nbsp;Feedback,&nbsp;and the intersection of epistemology and ethics in the age of AI.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The centerpiece of our participation was a connected related paper set titled&nbsp;<em>&#8220;Learning Progression and GenAI for Supporting Teacher Instructional Adaptations and Student Three-Dimensional Learning.&#8221;<\/em>&nbsp;This session featured our work&nbsp;on 3D Learning Progressions (3DLP and the ADAPT-AI platform.&nbsp;The paper set was presented by&nbsp;<strong>Dr. Peng He, Dr. Tingting Li, PhD student Zeyuan Wang, and PhD student&nbsp;Honglu&nbsp;Liu<\/strong>.&nbsp;The session saw an impressive turnout of over&nbsp;<strong>80 scholars<\/strong>, sparking extensive discussion in our lab&#8217;s approach to adaptive, AI-driven assessment frameworks.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"636\" height=\"477\" src=\"https:\/\/wpcdn.web.wsu.edu\/wp-labs\/uploads\/sites\/3565\/2026\/04\/image-3.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2355\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wpcdn.web.wsu.edu\/wp-labs\/uploads\/sites\/3565\/2026\/04\/image-3.png 636w, https:\/\/wpcdn.web.wsu.edu\/wp-labs\/uploads\/sites\/3565\/2026\/04\/image-3-300x225.png 300w, https:\/\/wpcdn.web.wsu.edu\/wp-labs\/uploads\/sites\/3565\/2026\/04\/image-3-150x113.png 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 636px) 100vw, 636px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">CAIRE Lab Team at NARST&nbsp;2026&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Our team at the CAIRE Research Lab has just wrapped up an incredible two weeks of academic exchange and leadership in the field of AI and science education.
