Ramiro wins best poster award

Ramiro Gonzalez, who is working on an ongoing project to model Li-S batteries, recently won the best poster award at the 2016 LSAMP conference poster symposium. Ramiro’s poster was chosen as the best poster amongst around 40 participants from the University of Washington, Boise State, Portland State University, Oregon State University, Columbia Basin College, and several other community colleges near the Seattle area.

CNL to engage in modeling solid state sodium batteries

CNL is excited to be part of a team for a new ARPA-E project titled “Low Cost, Safe, and Efficient All Solid State Sodium Batteries for Grid-scale Energy Storage and Other Applications”, in collaboration with Iowa State, University of Houston, University of Colorado, Solid Power Inc. and Prof. Scott Beckman at WSU. This was part of a set of 41 grants (funded out of over 2000 proposals) announced by Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz

CNL to participate in solar decathlon

CNL is glad to be involved in WSU’s team that will design and build a solar home during the next two years as part of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Solar Decathlon competition. WSU was one of 16 college teams from across the world chosen to participate in the 2017 competition, which requires students to plan and build a 600- to 1,000-square-foot home that receives all its energy from the sun

Mortuza’s work published in Physical Review E

Mortuza’s work on developing a combined deterministic-stochastic framework for modeling the agglomeration of colloidal particles has been published in Physical Review E. The tool provides a new approach to model growth of clusters during solution processing of thin films.
