Putting Food First

Food System Justice Action Research Project (FSJAR) was launched by CSEJ in 2020 to address the multiple crises of the pandemic, heightened food insecurity, and the amplification of systemic injustice. Centering on health and wellness outcomes and empowerment for BIPOC and other disadvantaged and minoritized communities, FSJAR is collaborating with food and farming systems researchers and diverse campus-based and community partners to explore partnerships to advance food system justice in our communities. FSJAR’s long-term goal is to establish a transdisciplinary food system justice program at WSUV to integrate research, experiential learning, career training/job creation, and community service to promote food system resilience in SW Washington.
