{"id":9,"date":"2024-09-23T06:44:48","date_gmt":"2024-09-23T13:44:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/labs.wsu.edu\/dmd\/?page_id=9"},"modified":"2024-10-07T15:29:32","modified_gmt":"2024-10-07T22:29:32","slug":"research-projects","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/labs.wsu.edu\/dmd\/?page_id=9","title":{"rendered":"Research Projects"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Selected Ongoing Projects<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Ongoing projects include understanding the role of AI in political and health misperceptions, and the interplay of health and politics in case of vaccination attitudes.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Selected Past Projects<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong><em>Information integrity<\/em>:<\/strong> Survey research in this area have examined associations between news credibility, social media news use, and misperceptions (<a href=\"https:\/\/journals.sagepub.com\/doi\/full\/10.1177\/0963662521998025\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Xiao et al., 2021<\/a>), the role of political ideology on media literacy (<a href=\"https:\/\/ijoc.org\/index.php\/ijoc\/article\/view\/18261\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Borah, 2022<\/a>) and incidental news exposure and misperceptions (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/pii\/S0747563221004969\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Borah et al, 2022<\/a>). Experimental work in this area have examined how corrective messages may impact people\u2019s misperceptions (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.emerald.com\/insight\/content\/doi\/10.1108\/OIR-11-2021-0600\/full\/html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Borah et al.,2023<\/a>; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tandfonline.com\/doi\/abs\/10.1080\/15456870.2021.1912046\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Borah et al.,2022<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong><em>Vaccination behavior<\/em>:<\/strong> Several projects in this area have used experimental research to understand vaccination attitudes and behavior. Projects have investigated the promotion strategies such as gain vs. loss frames (<a href=\"https:\/\/link.springer.com\/article\/10.1007\/s12144-022-02851-3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Borah, 2023<\/a>), individual vs. collective frames (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tandfonline.com\/doi\/abs\/10.1080\/10810730.2021.1966687\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Borah et al.,2021<\/a>; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tandfonline.com\/doi\/abs\/10.1080\/01463373.2024.2302469\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Borah et al., 2024<\/a>; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tandfonline.com\/doi\/abs\/10.1080\/10410236.2024.2386718\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Borah, 2024<\/a>), narrative persuasion techniques (<a href=\"https:\/\/journals.sagepub.com\/doi\/abs\/10.1177\/08901171221075019\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Borah et al., 2022<\/a>) and normed-based messages (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tandfonline.com\/doi\/abs\/10.1080\/10410236.2020.1770506\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Xiao &amp; Borah, 2020<\/a>). These studies have examined several types of vaccines including HPV, COVID-19, and Flu.
