If the pump does not list it\u2019s rated temperature, assume 60\u00b0C as the max safe temperature.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Q:\u00a0 <\/strong>Is it possible to use this equipment with other liquids?\n<ul>\n<li><strong>A:\u00a0 <\/strong>Yes, but it is recommended that only water should be used.\u00a0 Different chemicals could cause premature corrosion in the metal pipes, or could cause the plastic parts of the pumps\/units to deteriorate.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Q:\u00a0 <\/strong>What range of flow rates can these units achieve?\n<ul>\n<li><strong>A:\u00a0 <\/strong>~2 &#8211; 25 ml\/s<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Cleaning\/Maintenance\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Q:\u00a0 <\/strong>If I use colored dyes for demonstration purposes (or similar staining substances), what is the best way to clean the units afterwards?\n<ul>\n<li><strong>A:\u00a0 <\/strong>Follow these steps:\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ol>\n<li>Rinse as much excess dye out from the unit.\u00a0 The easiest way to do this is to use one of the pumps to run clean, warm water through it and running the exit tube straight into the sink.\u00a0 Use water at the highest safe pump temperature for the best results.<\/li>\n<li>Repeat step 1, but add soap to the water.<\/li>\n<li>For remaining stains, take a glassware cleaning brush and warm soapy water to further clean them.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Q:\u00a0 <\/strong>How should the units be stored?\n<ul>\n<li><strong>A:\u00a0 <\/strong>Clean and drain each unit as well as possible, then store them on top of the tray used for the experiment.\u00a0 The water that was left from draining will fall into the tray and evaporate, protecting anything else stored in the same cabinet.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Interested in purchasing DLMs for use in your classroom or lab?
