We have a lot of hope that all of this will go away with the vaccines \u2026 we just want to wait until this is over and then have a big splash.<\/em>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

About My Picture<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of our drum circles. My friend is a drummer \u2026 [the children] really love it when he brings out the hand drums and has sort of a drum circle \u2026 They sit around, and we will play some music on the radio that they like \u2026 and they try to play on the beat \u2026 The xylophone, we have maracas and we have little bells and the hand drums \u2026 it’s just a cacophony of noise \u2026 [They were] so involved and so happy and all trying to work together. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

From Our Intervie<\/strong>w with Belle<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

From the day she opened in 2012, things went so well in Erin\u2019s family home childcare that her husband soon joined in the endeavor. When the pandemic hit, Erin was glad to learn that she would not have close unlike other businesses subject to statewide shutdown orders because she \u201cwanted to continue doing the same things \u2026 and keep the continuity for the children in this time.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of remaining open, Erin said that so far, \u201cWe\u2019ve been very lucky and very blessed \u2026 We really haven\u2019t had the Covid concerns as some daycares have.\u201d She attributed her relative success to having sibling groups from just a few families, all with parents who had \u201csomething to do with the medical field\u201d and were fully supportive of safety and hygiene practices. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nevertheless, the experience of working through the pandemic has brought on a unique kind of stress, which Erin described as, \u201cNot the kind of stress where you are just wringing your hands and walking the floor, but \u2026 a lot of adults are just more tired \u2026 I\u2019ve been exhausted earlier on every day.\u201d She said she had \u201ca lot of hope\u201d that the vaccines would bring an end to the pandemic so that she could \u201clook back \u2026 and say we provided continuity for the children in this time.\u201d    <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Uno de nuestros c\u00edrculos de tambores. Mi amigo es tamborista \u2026 [a los ni\u00f1os] realmente les encanta cuando \u00e9l saca los tambores de mano y hace una especie de c\u00edrculo de tambores \u2026 Se sientan en un c\u00edrculo y ponemos m\u00fasica en la radio que a ellos les gusta …y ellos intentan tocar con el ritmo \u2026 El xil\u00f3fono, tenemos maracas y tenemos peque\u00f1as campanas y los tambores de mano \u2026 es simplemente una cacofon\u00eda de ruido \u2026 [Estaban] tan involucrados y tan contentos y estaban todos intentando trabajar juntos. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Desde el d\u00eda que abri\u00f3, en 2012, las cosas le iban tan bien a Erin en su centro de cuidado infantil en casa, que su esposo pronto se uni\u00f3 al esfuerzo. Cuando lleg\u00f3 la pandemia, a Erin le dio gusto saber que no tendr\u00eda que cerrar, a diferencia de aquellos negocios sujetos a los mandatos estatales de cierre, porque ella \u201cquer\u00eda seguir haciendo las mismas cosas \u2026 y mantener la continuidad para los ni\u00f1os durante este tiempo.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sobre permanecer abiertos, Erin dijo que hasta ahora, \u201cHemos tenido mucha suerte y muchas bendiciones \u2026 Realmente no hemos tenido las preocupaciones de Covid, como las tienen algunas guarder\u00edas.\u201d Ella atribuy\u00f3 su \u00e9xito relativo al tener a grupos de hermanos de unas pocas familias, todos con padres que tienen \u201calgo que ver con el campo m\u00e9dico\u201d y quienes apoyaban completamente las pr\u00e1cticas de seguridad e higiene. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
