PASPCR 2019

Soumyadeep received the PanAmerican Society for Pigment Cell Research (PASPCR) travel award to present his research findings on the how circadian clock protein BMAL1 regulates melanin synthesis through MITF. At the PASPCR 2019 Annual Meeting in Barr Harbor, Maine, he took 2nd place for his presentation. Congratulations Soumyadeep!

EMGS 2019

Dr. Koritala received an Environmental Mutagenesis and Genomics Society (EMGS) new investigator travel award to present his research on how circadian dysregulation can enhance cancer risk in humans at the 2019 conference held in Washington D. C.

Panshak received a merit-based Alexander Hollaender travel award from EMGS, in addition to a travel award from the WSU Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. At the conference, Panshak presented a poster as well as a talk on how “circadian clock disruption impairs the skin’s DNA damage response to solar UVB and increases mutagenicity” to the DNA repair Special Interest Group.

24th International Symposium on Shiftwork

Dr. Koritala received a travel grant from the Sleep and Performance Research Center (SPRC) of the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine at WSU to give his talk on the mechanisms underlying cancer risk in humans under simulated shift conditions at the 24th International Symposium on Shiftwork held in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. There, his abstract titled: “Night shift disrupts the DNA repair and enhances DNA damage in humans” received the Outstanding Early Career Researcher Abstract Award.

Congratulations Bala!

Graduate Student of the Year 2018-2019

Panshak was recognized by the College as the 2018-19 Graduate Program Student of the Year in the Pharmaceutical Sciences Department.

This award recognizes students that show “a commitment to academic performance, leadership, scholarship, service and professionalism. You can read more about the events and awards here.

Congratulations Panshak!

Welcoming Dr. Koritala

We are exited to welcome Dr. Bala S. C. Koritala, our new postdoc, to the laboratory.  With a strong research background in circadian rhythms, and relentless enthusiasm for the advance of knowledge, he will be a great asset to our group.
