Julie A. Kmec is a Professor of Sociology at Washington State University. Her research focuses on workplace gender and race inequality, including how organizational practices and policies affect organizations and workers.
She serves as Editor-in-Chief of the journal Sociology Compass. In addition to regularly contributing to the ASA’s Organizations, Occupations, and Work section blog, she also serves on the editorial boards of Social Science Research, Social Problems, Research in the Sociology of Work, and Work & Occupations. Kmec holds a Masters Degrees from The Ohio State University and a Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania.
She spends her free time watching her sons play soccer, reading, being outside, and gardening (beets and other things).
