The Atmospheric Chemistry Laboratory is located in the PACCAR building.\u00a0 The labs have windows on the interior walls so you can see what might be going on.\u00a0 Above is a picture of my lab through the window.\u00a0\u00a0 My lab has a variety of equipment and instruments for air sampling and analysis.\u00a0 We use gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC-MS) with air sample preconcentraton systems to measure volatile organic compounds (VOCs), a proton transfer reaction mass spectrometer (PR-MS) to measure VOCs in real-time, a fast response VUV carbon monoxide instrument, a highly sensitivity instrument to measure NO, NO2 and NOy, cavity-ring down monitors for green house gases (CO2, CH4, N2O), and various monitors to measure criteria air pollutants (O3, SO2, CO, NOx, PM2.5).\u00a0 We build some of our equipment such as air preconcentrators and other air sampling equipment and devices and create instrument \/ experiment control programs using AzeoTech DAQFactory software.<\/p>\n
Some of our research work uses custom built Teflon chambers for material emissions testing and chemistry studies.\u00a0 We also have built a very large dilution tunnel that we have used for vehicle exhaust photochemical processing studies.<\/p>\n
The PACCAR building also has a custom walk-in environmental chamber where we can control the temperature, humidity and UV light levels for chemistry studies and material testing.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/section>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
