Their applications are diverse and able to be applied to deep water fishes <img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-161 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.wp.wsu.edu\/uploads\/sites\/1991\/2018\/06\/p.med_.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"189\" height=\"285\" \/>for which visual surveys or satellite tags are prohibitive. In Puget Sound their presence is known, but the particular variables they are responding to is less understood. We have developed a method of creating a habitat suitability model for this species by combining acoustic telemetry data with the Pacific Northwest Laboratories <a href=\"https:\/\/salish-sea.pnnl.gov\/\">Salish Sea model<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h6>Classification of Oceanic Communities<\/h6>\n<p>The boundaries and forces structuring the marine<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-164 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.wp.wsu.edu\/uploads\/sites\/1991\/2018\/06\/coralreef.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"186\" height=\"139\" \/> environment are in many ways distinct from terrestrial systems.
