Two-day workshop on \u201cUnmanned Aerial Systems in Agriculture\u201d<\/h2>\n<\/header>\n

In the past few years, unmanned aerial systems (UAS aka drones) have fascinated growers, crop service providers and researchers alike with versatile imaging and non-imaging application capabilities. Agribusiness industry is trying to keep pace with rapid developments in this sector. This workshop provides comprehensive understanding of the fundamentals of UAS\/drone and accompanying technologies that have emerged for crop monitoring and aerial chemical applications; comprehensive overview of current FAA rules (Part 107), regulations and safety issues, and hands-on flight training.<\/p>\n

Agenda<\/h2>\n<\/header>\n

Day 1 (7:30 am to\u00a06 pm)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Topic 1: Introduction to UAS.<\/strong> Principles of flight. UAS types and classifications. Overview of small UAS components (airframes, powertrain, flight and nevi controllers, telemetry, etc.). Configuration, calibration and mission planning for first flight.<\/p>\n

Topic 2: Crop scouting drones. <\/strong>Technology overview. Sensor types & output data formats. Integrating sensor(s) with UAS.<\/p>\n

Topic 3: Sprayer drones. <\/strong>Technology overview. Sprayer attributes and flight autonomy (surgical and uniform spraying). Aerial chemical application regulations. Technology demonstrations.<\/p>\n

Day 2 (7:30 am to 5 pm)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Topic 4: Small UAS pilot certification & regulations.<\/strong> Rules, regulations & safety. Comprehensive overview of FAA Part 107 and UAS pilot certification preparation. Ethics & privacy.<\/p>\n

Topic 5: Hands-on flight training. <\/strong>Break into small groups and get hands-on UAS mission flying in agricultural environment.<\/p>\n

Topic 6: Drone data analytics overview.<\/strong> Basics steps in data analytics. Overview of data processing tools.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

Where: Ag Tech Building, WSU IAREC, Prosser, WA 99350<\/strong><\/p>\n

Event offers Certified Crop Adviser Continuing Education Units: <\/strong>Crop Management: 12 CEUs; Integrated Pest Management: 3 CEUs.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Registration Fee:<\/strong> $370\/ attendee, Group of 5 or more $350\/attendee.\u00a0 Maximum seats limited to 30. Registration cost includes lunch and coffee\/light snacks on both days.<\/p>\n
