Certifying and Advancing Multilingual Teachers by Increasing Numbers Through Three Grow-Your-Own Strands

About
Welcome to CAMINOS – a $3.1 M grant funded by the Department of Education Office of English Language Acquisition National Professional Development program, with anticipated duration from 2024 to 2029.
In response to the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction’s initiative to provide all students in Washington with access to dual language programs, the goals of the CAMINOS project focus on increasing the number of multilingual teachers through three Tri-Cities grow-your-own preservice teacher preparation pathways, namely: 1) Alternative Route, 2) Teaching Bridge, and 3) Dual Language Pathway Certificate.
Specifically, CAMINOS will fully or partially fund preservice teachers going through these pathways with the aim of gaining K-8 teaching certification with Bilingual and English learner endorsements and/or Special Education with Bilingual Emphasis micro-credentialing prepared to work in dual language classrooms.
