CAMINOS OTL Survey

CAMINOS Bilingual Teacher Development Quantitative Study Survey

Welcome to the CAMINOS quantitative study survey! The survey is part of a research study conducted by Dr. Shenghai Dai at Washington State University (WSU) as a part of the larger CAMINOS project (PI: Dr. Yuliya Ardasheva) funded by the U.S. Department of Education (Grant #146418-001).

Purpose of the Study

This research is part of an initiative aimed at better understanding the unique challenges and needs future educators face when preparing to teach in today’s classrooms. More specifically, the present study aims for the evaluation of the WSU educational programs for preparing student teachers to work with multilingual students.

Participation involves three types of activities:

  • A brief background questionnaire (about 5 minutes to complete).
  • A survey on your self-beliefs as a teacher-learner (about 10 minutes to complete).
  • A survey on your current or planned classroom practices (about 10 minutes to complete).

Eligibility

You are eligible to participate if you are 18 years or older and are affiliated with the Traditional Route, Alternative Route, Dual Language Certificate Pathway, and/or Teaching Bridge programs at WSU.

Benefits

Your participation in this project would provide valuable insights that can help improve the programs and resources available to teacher-learners like yourself. More specifically, the present study can help better prepare teachers to work with students of all backgrounds and build resources for local outreach and national replication.

Voluntary Participation

Your input is confidential, and your participation is voluntary. You may refuse to participate or withdraw from the study with no penalty to your academic standing at any time.

Risks

It’s important to know that the following risks may be associated with participating in this study. Breach of confidentiality is a risk. Although every effort will be made to protect your personal information, there is always a possibility that unauthorized individuals may gain access to your data. To help reduce these risks, the data will be stored in a WSU-issued and password-protected computer and drives (e.g., Microsoft OneDrive); and access will be restricted to authorized personnel only. Any personal identifiers will be removed or coded to ensure that the data remains confidential. We will also implement additional safeguards, such as (e.g., regular security audits or secure backup procedures) to further protect your privacy. If you experience any discomfort or concerns during the study, you will be referred to appropriate professionals or resources for assistance.

This study has been certified exempt by the WSU Human Research Protection Program under 45 CFR 46.104 (WSU IRB # 20976-001).
