one \">\n<header>\n<h2>About<\/h2>\n<\/header>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">Welcome to <span style=\"color: #800000\"><span style=\"color: #993300\"><strong>CAMINOS<\/strong> <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\">&#8211;<\/span> <span style=\"color: #000000\">a $3.1 M grant funded by the Department of Education Office of English Language Acquisition National Professional Development program, with anticipated duration from 2024 to 2029.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">In response to the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction\u2019s initiative to provide all students in Washington with access to dual language programs, the goals of the CAMINOS project focus on increasing the number of multilingual teachers through three Tri-Cities grow-your-own preservice teacher preparation pathways, namely: <strong>1) Alternative Route, 2) Teaching Bridge, and 3) Dual Language Pathway Certificate<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">Specifically, CAMINOS will fully or partially fund preservice teachers going through these pathways with the aim of gaining K-8 teaching certification with Bilingual and English learner endorsements and\/or Special Education with Bilingual Emphasis micro-credentialing prepared to work in dual language Crosson, Ph.D.<\/h4>\n<p>Dr. Crosson\u00a0is an Associate Professor in the College of Education at the Pennsylvania State University. Her program of intervention research addresses questions about how to optimize vocabulary development and comprehension for emergent multilingual learners. She has led projects focused on these topics funded by the <em>Institute for Education Sciences<\/em>, <em>Spencer Foundation<\/em>, and the <em>National Academy of Education<\/em>. Her research has shown the importance of vocabulary intervention for learners, and potential for cross-linguistic connections and word analysis to accelerate vocabulary growth. Her research is disseminated widely for research (e.g., <em>Scientific Studies of Reading<\/em>) and practitioner (e.g., <em>Language, Speech and Hearing Services in Schools<\/em>) audiences.<\/li>\n<li>\n<h4>Eric J. Johnson, Ph.D.<\/h4>\n<p>Dr. Johnson is a Professor and Dual Language Pathway Certificate Program Coordinator (DLPC) across WSU campuses. Dr. Johnson is the developer and the academic lead of the DLPC track at WSU designed for preservice teachers seeking BE endorsement. He has consulted with Washington\u2019s Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) on various trainings involving dual language teacher preparation. His publications span topics involving multilingual education.<\/li>\n<li>\n<h4>Sara Kangas, Ph.D.<\/h4>\n<p>Dr. Kangas is an Associate Professor in the College of Education at Lehigh University. As an applied linguist, Dr. Kangas researches issues of access in K\u201312 schools for language learners with disabilities. In her research, she investigates how education policies and instructional practices shape the academic and language development of language learners with disabilities. Dr. Kangas\u2019s research has been published in numerous top-tier journals and has been awarded the prestigious James E.
