The survey is part of a research study conducted by <a href=\"https:\/\/education.wsu.edu\/shenghai-dai\/\">Dr. Shenghai Dai<\/a> at Washington State University (WSU) as a part of the larger <a href=\"https:\/\/labs.wsu.edu\/lsd\/caminos\/\">CAMINOS project<\/a> (PI: Dr. Yuliya Ardasheva) funded by the U.S. Department of Education (Grant #146418-001).<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #993300\"><strong>Purpose of the Study<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>This research is part of an initiative aimed at better understanding the unique challenges and needs future educators face when preparing to teach in today\u2019s classrooms.\u00a0More specifically, the present study aims for the evaluation of the WSU educational programs for preparing student teachers to work with multilingual students.<\/p>\n<p>Participation involves three types of activities:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>A brief background questionnaire (about 5 minutes to complete).<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>A survey on your self-beliefs as a teacher-learner (about 10 minutes to complete).<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>A survey on your current or planned classroom practices (about 10 minutes to complete).<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #993300\"><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>You are eligible to participate if you are 18 years or older and are affiliated with the <strong>Traditional Route<\/strong>, <strong>Alternative Route<\/strong>, <strong>Dual Language Certificate Pathway<\/strong>, and\/or <strong>Teaching Bridge<\/strong> programs at WSU.<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #993300\"><strong>Benefits<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>Your participation in this project would provide valuable insights that can help improve the programs and resources available to teacher-learners like yourself.\u00a0More specifically, the present study can help better prepare teachers to work with students of all backgrounds and build resources for local outreach and national replication.<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #993300\"><strong>Voluntary Participation<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>Your input is confidential, and your participation is voluntary. You may refuse to participate or withdraw from the study with no penalty to your academic standing at any time.<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #993300\"><strong>Risks<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>It&#8217;s important to know that the following risks may be associated with participating in this study. Breach of confidentiality is a risk. Although every effort will be made to protect your personal information, there is always a possibility that unauthorized individuals may gain access to your data. To help reduce these risks, the data will be stored in a WSU-issued and password-protected computer and drives (e.g., Microsoft OneDrive); and access will be restricted to authorized personnel only. Any personal identifiers will be removed or coded to ensure that the data remains confidential. We will also implement additional safeguards, such as (e.g., regular security audits or secure backup procedures) to further protect your privacy.
