Congratulations Dr. Athon and Dr. Luksic!

Congratulations to Matthew Athon and Steven Luksic, two Pacific Northwest National Laboratory scientists who successfully defended their PhDs in Materials Science and Engineering at Washington State University this month.

Dr. Athon’s thesis was: “Fundamental Studies on the Morphology and Effects of Uranium Carbide Particles During Casting in Uranium and U-10Mo Metal”

Dr. Luksic’s thesis was: “X-Ray Computed Tomography and Modeling of Glass Melts”

WSU Showcase for Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities (SURCA) 2022

Congratulations to our 3 group undergrads researchers who presented at WSU’s in-person showcase!

Congratulations to Goldwater Scholar John Bussey!

For those of you who do not know, the Goldwater Scholarship is an extremely prestigious national award. Our very own undergraduate student John Bussey was selected as the representative from WSU and was one of the winners in this nationally competitive scholarship.  John was one of only 10 awardees in our state this year.

Congratulations to John Bussey for being selected as this year’s winner of the SURCA (Showcase for Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities) at WSU.

John was selected by the WSU Emeritus Society as the recipient of the scholarship in the category of Engineering and Applied Sciences.

“Our reviewers found that your research on Mount St. Helens ash’s stimulant properties holds much promise for lunar equipment testing applications.”
