About me

Sophia is majoring in chemical engineering and minoring in mathematics at Washington State University. She’s also been a reactor operator trainee at the WSU Nuclear Science Center (NSC) since September 2020 and intends to pursue a career in nuclear energy or nuclear waste management at the Hanford Site in Richland, WA. She initially became interested in joining the NOME group after learning about their research in vitrification, which is the intended application for nuclear waste management at Hanford. Recently, she found a new interest in optical microscopy and is learning the operative controls of the BX53-P Olympus Microscope in ERTL 345 to provide a comprehensive user guide for the NOME group.
