She obtained her bachelor’s degree in physics and astrophysics at Northern Arizona University, where she was introduced to the realm of materials science through a Cottrell Postbaccalaureate research position focused on nanomaterials. Her current research explores the structure-property relations in aluminoborosilicate glasses that incorporate sulfate and various halides. Sulfate oversaturation in glassy melts leads to the precipitation of a salt phase, which is thought to be compounded by halide presence. Understanding the mechanisms and limitations of this salt formation is important for both fundamental science and advanced applications, including nuclear waste immobilization. This work reflects her goals to support sustainable technological development and promote environmental stewardship.

Kodie Rodman

About Kodie

Kodie Rodman is a doctoral student in MSE, advised by Dr. John McCloy.
