Nabil Ashraf Shuvo is a Chemistry PhD student at WSU Pullman, advised by Dr. John McCloy. He graduated in 2021 with a B.Sc. in Chemistry from Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), Bangladesh. His undergraduate research focused on natural products chemistry, specifically the extraction and analysis of phytochemicals. He began his graduate studies on the Materials Chemistry track in Fall 2022 and has worked as a teaching assistant in the Department of Chemistry at WSU. In Spring 2023, he joined the NOME lab as a graduate research assistant and is working towards his PhD. He has also been pursuing an additional M.S. degree in Materials Science and Engineering since 2025.<\/span>
\nNabil\u2019s research focuses on the synthesis of Iron sulfide (Fe-S) based particles for their magnetic properties and studying their interactions with target contaminants in caustic waste. Understanding the formation, composition, functionalization, and reductive interactions of these synthesized materials is crucial for their applications. By leveraging magnetic interactions and separation techniques, his work aims to develop sustainable solutions for nuclear waste removal and immobilization. Additionally, he is engaged in projects on nuclear waste forms, paleomagnetism, magnetobiology, and vitrified hillfort materials.<\/span><\/p>\n
