Research projects integrate advanced technologies such as molecular cloning, gene expression analysis, cellular signaling measurements, and genetic transformation. Students will be trained in formulating research questions, designing hypothesis-driven studies, and developing rigorous experimental approaches. Applicants with strong backgrounds in plant molecular biology, molecular genetics, or biochemistry are encouraged to apply. Interested students should send a CV and a brief description of their research experience and interests. Graduate students can apply through the Department of Plant Pathology or the Molecular Plant Science Program. While we typically provide funding through research grants, we strongly encourage prospective students to pursue independent fellowships, such as NSF GRFP, FFAR Fellows, And USDA AFRI EWD, to gain experience in grant writing and research proposal development.

Undergraduate students

We welcome undergraduate students who can commit at least 12 hours per week to research in our lab.
