CST_M 201 Materials “I”

This class is the first in a series on Materials and Methods in the Design & Construction industry. Introducing students to the materials used below grade (substructures) and above grade (superstructures). The class focuses specifically on elements of site-work, concrete, masonry, metals and wood combined to form systems used for residential projects, commercial projects, industrial projects and heavy civil projects. The organization of the course is consistent with the Construction Specification Institute (CSI) Master Format, used extensively in the building construction industry . Due to the interdisciplinary nature of the class, emphasis are given to CM and Architecture use of the materials and methods in the built environment.

ARCH 201 Architectural Design “I”

Introduction to architectural design focusing on composition, conceptual design and principles of organization, scale, proportion, rhythm and 3-D development.

ARCH 352 Architectural Structures “II”

The course serves as a continuation of ARCH351 in introducing the basics of structures for architecture and construction management students with the focus on integrating the technical aspects in building design. The course covers the types of structures, structural components, analysis of forces and stresses and structural materials properties.

CST_M Temporary Structures

This course introduces the analysis, design, and management of temporary structures in construction industry. The course topics include formwork, scaffolding, shoring, bracing, and excavation support systems. It also includes the evaluation of structural behavior, safety requirements, and relevant regulatory standards. The course emphasizes constructability, cost-effectiveness, and risk management
