Research Interest
Mathematical reasoning. Dr. Lesseig’s primary research focuses on supporting mathematical reasoning (e.g., conjecturing, generalizing, justifying) in secondary classrooms. This includes investigating the mathematical knowledge, skills and dispositions needed to promote student reasoning and sense-making as well as understanding how classroom-based professional learning experiences can support teachers and teacher leaders in that work.
STEM Education. Dr. Lesseig’s research extends into STEM education with a particular emphasis on how teachers, leaders and students make sense of STEM content and practices in the context of project-based learning, engineering design and other integrated approaches.
