Research Interest
Mathematical reasoning and proof. Kristin Lesseig’s primary research focuses on supporting mathematical reasoning and proof in secondary education. This includes investigating the mathematical knowledge, skills and dispositions teachers and teacher leaders need to support mathematical reasoning and proof in classrooms and the types of classroom-based professional development experiences (e.g. Mathematics Studios) support teachers in these efforts?
STEM Education. Dr. Lesseig’s research extends into STEM education with a particular emphasis on how teachers, leaders and students make sense of STEM content and practices in the context of project-based learning, engineering design and other integrated approaches.
