Installation of Smart Strips at TTL

Thanks to an ongoing study by ID+CL, WSU Trimble Technology Lab is now equipped with Smart Power Strips, which reduce energy consumption of non-essential devices during non-operation hours.

According to the study, “the installation of advanced surge protectors conserve energy through the reduction of phantom plug loads.”

The Integrated Design + Construction Lab (ID+CL), sponsored by WSU Facilities Services, implements the university’s Energy and Comfort campaign, which helps WSU facilities to operate more efficiently while ensuring occupant comfort.

At this time, over 400 strips have been installed across campus with many more to come. The inclusion of the TTL will aid the most recent phase of the study, which seeks to engage student spaces in contrast to full-time staff in single occupant workstations.
