Welcome to the Storfer Lab

In the Storfer laboratory, we use genetic and genomic tools to study the processes that lead to the geographic distribution of genetic variation. Our work primarily focuses on the study of emerging infectious diseases as major selective forces that can lead to spatial genetic variation, local adaptation and ultimately coevolution. We also study species’ range limits to address a central mystery in ecology and evolutionary biology, which is why most species’ geographic range edges are not demarcated by obvious geographic boundaries.
