Recently the George Hudson Biological preserve in collaboration with The Palouse Conservation District have done a riparian restoration project that started in 2022.

A quote about the project from Drew Schuldt

“The Palouse Conservation District has partnered with WSU and Smoot Hill operations to install two riparian restoration and bio-engineer stream enhancement projects. These include a 9-acre restoration project on Rose Creek and a 16- acre restoration project along Fourmile Creek. Since Fall 2022, about 3,000 plants have been installed at Rose Creek and 1700 at Fourmile Creek. Bio-engineer structures are being installed at both locations to help re-connect the floodplain, increase summer flows, increase dissolved oxygen, and help protect eroding streambanks. The locations are also being used for student volunteer events and educational opportunities for students, professors, and state agencies. “
