Facilities

  • Cleanroom Laboratory (VECS 040)
The laboratory consists of a class 100 cleanroom with 1700 square feet of lab space. The lab includes three bays for thermal/diffusion/anneal, photolithography, and metal deposition. The lab is used for research projects and supports teaching activities for courses related to IC fabrication and testing.
  • DNA Recovery System
The DNA Recover System provides an automated, MicroTip-based method of DNA isolation from whole blood, dried blood, and saliva. The proprietary attraction of DNA to the MicroTip surface eliminates the need for centrifugation and only requires up to 5 μL of the target sample.
  • rame-hart contact angle goniometer
The ramé-hart CA Goniometer is a tool optimized for contact angle measurement.
  • Fluorescence microscope
Nikon fluorescence microscope
  • FTIR (Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy)

This technique measures the absorption of infrared radiation by the sample material versus wavelength. The infrared absorption bands identify molecular components and structures.

  • Ultrasonic cleaning system

Simultaneous Multi-frequency ultrasonic cleaner.

  • Low current measurement system

The Keithley 6487 Picoammeter/Voltage Source’s 10fA resolution,  voltage sweeping, and Alternating Voltage resistance measurements for characterizing low current devices.

  • Biosafety enclosure

Biosafety cabinets for research involving infectious microorganisms or other hazardous particulates.

  • Syringe pumps

  • SEM (Scanning electron microscope)

  • Zetasizer Nano

  • Atmospheric pressure plasma system

Atmospheric-pressure plasma is a plasma in which the pressure approximately matches that of the surrounding atmosphere.

  • XRD (X-ray Diffraction)
