Judging Policies 

To support a fair and consistent evaluation process, please review the following guidelines: 

  • Individual scores are kept confidential. Public announcements will only include the winners. Students may request their own score, but full scoring sheets or judge comments will not be released. 
  • We cannot provide explanations for why one submission scored higher than another. Final selections reflect the combined rubric scores and the judging panel’s professional assessment. 
  • In the event of a tie, the MAC Lab research team—who are not involved in judging and do not have access to participant identities—will review the tied submissions using the same rubric to determine a winner. 
  • All judging decisions are final.

All submissions will be evaluated using the rubric below. Each category is scored independently, and total scores will determine ranking:
