Prior to joining WSU, Gupta was staff design engineer in RFIC/Mixed Signal group at Maxlinear Inc., Irvine. His research interests include ultra-low-power and high-dynamic range integrated circuits and systems using statistical signal-processing techniques. His expertise lies in data conversion using digital signal processing techniques to achieve digital calibration and remove any circuit/device imperfections. These technologies can support emerging applications such as digital phenotyping and augmented reality as well as emerging radio technologies such as radio frequency spectrum-sharing. His lab has excellent measurement facilities for both low-frequency sensor nodes and high-frequency applications.

Program Description:

The project aims to close critical gaps in sensing technology (offline data processing and real-time data-driven sampling through active feedback) by investigating design and development of robust, intelligent next-generation sensors that can capture high-precision, high-resolution phenotypic data at population-scale, and significantly reduce end-to-end time from data to discovery by achieving efficient data exchange across existing operational silos. The key idea is to implement maximum data processing into the sensing device so that data is processed as it is being generated. Students can be involved in intelligent sensing technology development for phenomics applications.
