Assefaw Gebremedhin is currently serving or has recently served the community in his research area in several ways: serving in proposal review panels, serving in book reviews, organizing conferences and minisymposia, serving in technical program committees, and serving as a referee for papers submitted to a variety of journals and conferences on algorithms, parallel and distributed computing, scientific computing, and theoretical computer science. The CSG is a very active student club. Teams from CSG have participated in every season of the National Cyber League (NCL) competition since 2022, placing in the top 15 % of over 500 ranked schools, and winning first place in the 2024 VICEROY Spectral Cloak national competition.
