Department of Speech & Hearing Sciences Early Social Communication & Language Lab

Facilities

The Early Social Communication & Language Lab is located within the  Department of Speech & Hearing Sciences at the Washington State University-Spokane campus. Our facilities consist of a welcome and play room for participants and families, an assessment room equipped with video and audio equipment for behavioral testing, and a separate space for research use.

Our lab spaces are exclusively used by the ESCLL, allowing for participant privacy throughout the assessment process and allowing for undergraduate and graduate students to observe and learn more about child development.

Welcome & Play Room

Our lab has a dedicated room to welcome families and allow for children to play before and during lab visits. This area consists of toys, a seating area for parents/guardians, and a television to assist in observation of the assessment process.

Assessment Room

Our assessment room is equipped with audio and video-recorded to assist with our interpretation and measurement of social-communication and language.

Research Room

Our office space is used for research purposes, such as managing and analyzing data, scoring assessments and video recordings, and allowing for observation by undergraduate and graduate students.
