Empowering Global Educators: CAIRE Team Leads Workshop on AI in Language Education for Indonesian Students

On April 28, 2026, Dr. Peng He and Dr. Dini Arini from the CAIRE Research Lab at Washington State University (WSU) were invited by Dr. David Segoh from the Faculty of Humanities at Universitas Airlangga to lead an international guest lecture. The virtual seminar, titled “Implementing AI in Language Education”, was delivered to undergraduate students in Indonesia. This initiative serves as a key practice in CAIRE’s commitment to advancing AI literacy among educators worldwide, helping future teachers understand and responsibly engage with AI technologies.

During the session, the fundamental knowledge of Artificial Intelligence was introduced to participants’ understanding. Dr. Dini also shared a set of popular educational AI tools, demonstrating how these technologies can be integrated into classroom resources to improve instructional efficiency and create more engaging learning experiences.

Crucially, the lecture highlighted essential precautions for using AI in educational settings. Dr. He advocated for the “Preview Everything” and “Check Before Use” principles, urging students to avoid blind trust in AI-generated outputs to ensure responsible implementation.

Promoting AI ethics and literacy remains a core mission for the CAIRE Research Lab. This activity with Indonesian students underscores CAIRE’s proactive stance on international partnerships and its vision to share “Human-Centered AI” philosophies with the global education community to empower teachers and learners.
