Cannabinoid use in stress management

  • Cannabis use can relieve anxiety, pain, and anorexia. (Sexton et al., 2016)
  • Short-term cannabis use reduces psychological stress. (Cuttler et al., 2018)
  • Existing evidence indicates cannabis use increases cortisol in humans and animal models but may depend on the frequency of use and mode of administration. (Glodosky et al., 2021)
  • Most studies on endocannabinoids and the HPA axis are conducted on males; need more information about females. (Glodosky et al., 2021)
