Jacoby Laboratory Deficit Irrigation & Grapevine Physiology

Collaboration Opportunity

Our lab currently has connection and cooperation with other universities (i.e. UC Davis, Oregon State University, Shandong Agriculture University in China), institutions (i.e. USDA-ARS), and commercial vineyards (i.e. Hogue Ranches in the Columbia Valley AVA, Kiona, and Ciel du Cheval in the Red Mountain AVA, WA).

If you are interested in our research work, and want to find any opportunities for cooperation, please contact us by phone: 509-335-3495 (office), or by email: jacoby@wsu.edu. We’d love to hear from anyone around the world!

Established Collaborators

Kiona Vineyards

Kiona is located in Benton City, Washington and was the first established vineyard on Red Mountain. John Williams and Jim Holmes worked with Dr. Walter Clore beginning in 1965 researching viticulture and enology through a Washington State University extension program. Research began on a small part of Red Mountain after Williams and Holmes purchased a few acres of land in 1972. At this time, the two men were the first to grow wine grapes in the region with little external anticipation of success. Today, Kiona is still owned and operated by the Williams family sitting on roughly 300 acres of land. Our lab uses a block of Cabernet Sauvignon on Kiona’s vineyards. Find more at www.kionawine.com

Hogue Ranches

Hogue Ranches is located in Prosser, Washington. Our lab uses a block of Chardonnay grapes on Hogue Ranches vineyards. Find more at www.hogueranches.com
