Prof. Tom Jobson Atmospheric Chemistry Lab

MACL

For long term field work we use the Mobile Atmospheric Chemistry Lab (MACL) to host instruments.  This is an EKTO shelter with a 2-ton air conditioner to keep equipment nice and cool on hot summer days.  It has a crank up meteorological tower and roof access for equipment like a the ceilometer shown. The photograph above shows MACL in Richland, WA for the T-COPS ozone study on a nice100 F day.  The photograph below shows some of the equipment in the instrument rack.

MAML

The Mobile Air Monitoring Lab (MAML) is a customized Mercedes Sprinter Van that is equipped to measure air pollutants while driving down the road.  The van has a shock mounted instrument rack and special tie down locations for larger equipment like the PTR-MS.  The van is equipped with a GPS and camera system to record location and environment. The picture shows the van at a dairy measuring surface emissions of green house gases from a new manure management system that utilizes vermiculture.
