Roley Lab Watershed Biogeochemistry

switchgrass and stream

Welcome to the Roley Watershed Biogeochemistry Lab! We study nutrient transformations in freshwaters and the surrounding landscape. Right now, we are working on these specific projects:

  1. The ecological significance of nitrogen fixation in perennial grasses (Carmella, Shawnee)
  2. The effect of overabundant riverine macrophyte growth on stream water quality (Aaron, Maryam)
  3. Long-term health of Omak and Liberty Lakes (Riley)
  4. Large river metabolism and greenhouse gas emissions (Jarod)
  5. Nutrient dynamics in eastern Washington agricultural streams (Vanessa)
