Noel VestNoel Vest, PhD

I’m a postdoctoral fellow in the Systems Neuroscience and Pain Lab at the Stanford School of Medicine, working with Drs. Keith Humphreys and Sean Mackey. As a formerly incarcerated scholar, I am a strong advocate for social justice issues and public policy concerning prison reentry. My dissertation focused on applying advanced latent class analysis to better understand patient groups based upon the experiences of pain and depression during treatment with buprenorphine and naloxone. My other interests include the intersection of mental health, substance use disorders, poverty, social justice, addiction recovery, pain, and prison reentry.

Michael OrrMichael Orr, BA, BS

I am currently pursuing a PhD in clinical psychology at University of Houston with Dr. Michael Zvolensky as my mentor. I am interested in researching co-occurring substance use disorder and anxiety and depression, in particular I am interested in legal and semi-legal substances like cannabis, alcohol and opioids and how they influence and are influenced by anxiety and depression.

Kait HirchakKait Hirchak, PhD

In 2020, I finished a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at the University of New Mexico’s Center on Alcoholism, Substance Abuse, and Addictions (UNM-CASAA) funded on a training grant (T32AA018108; PI: McCrady) from the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA). I am now an Assistant Research Professor in EFSCOM. My primary passion is culturally re-centering evidence-based treatments. A lot of what I’m wanting to focus on now is harnessing technology to better engage young, native adults in treatment and substance-free activities.
