Meredith Smith

 

Meredith Smith is a junior undergraduate research assistant majoring in Psychology with a minor in Human Development. Her passion for studying emotions and her positive experience with research methods influenced her decision to join the lab. The process of designing studies and analyzing data energizes her. Meredith appreciates the continuous learning required to work in the lab, reinforcing her classroom knowledge and introducing her to new concepts, such as working with EEG caps to measure brain activity. Meredith envisions a career path that involves utilizing her research background to become a clinical counselor or pursuing a Ph.D. She enjoys reading, drawing, and engaging in creative crafts and activities with her friends in her free time. Furthermore, she aspires to care for senior dogs from shelters when she has the means, viewing it as a fulfilling and compassionate way to spend her time.

 

Taylor Schillinger

 

I’m a senior double-majoring in Psychology and Human Development. I joined the lab in 2023 to gain hands-on research experience with families and children, which connects to my interests in emotion regulation and child development. After graduation, I plan to pursue a master’s degree in school counseling or school social work to support students in educational settings! In my free time, I enjoy running, thrifting, and trying new recipes.

 

Madison Flores

 

Hi! My name is Madi and I am a senior majoring in Psychology and Human Development! I wanted to join this lab because of my future career goals and to gain hands on experience! After college graduation I plan to go to a graduate school to become a mental health therapist in hospitals. In my free time I enjoy reading, going to new coffee shops and when I’m home I love to go to the beach! 

 

Elizabeth Garza

 

Elizabeth Garza is a senior majoring in human development. She joined the lab to work beside mentors to gain research experience with the hopes of conducting her own research in the future. Elizabeth is particularly interested in working with children and understanding how they communicate. After she obtains her undergraduate degree she plans on attending graduate school to study speech language pathology with a focus in pediactrics. Additionally, in her free time she enjoys going on walks, spending time with friends, and reading.

 

Ellie Valley

 

My name is Ellie and I am a senior majoring in Psychology while on a pre-med track. I wanted to join this lab to get hands on experience with the research process and stay connected with what I have learned thus far. After college, I plan to attend graduate school to become a psychiatrist. In my free time I enjoy hiking, yoga, and puzzles.
