Meet the Team

Hsin-Ya, Liao, Principal Investigator, hsinya.liao@wsu.edu
Dr. Liao is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at Washington State University. She completed her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). Dr. Liao then worked as a post-doc in Quantitative and Social Psychology at the UIUC Department of Psychology, working with Dr. James Rounds and Dr. Ying-Yi Hong. Her research centers on the role of culture, diversity, and intergroup relations on mental health service delivery and psychological well-being. She is also interested in cross-cultural examinations of psychological assessments.

Michelle Jung, Graduate Student, michelle.jung@wsu.edu
Michelle Jung is a first-year doctoral student in clinical psychology. She joined the CAW lab in the fall of 2023 to assist with a longitudinal study that explored study-aborad college students’ intercultural skill development and adjustment.

Kexin Jiang, Graduate Student, kexin.jiang@wsu.edu
Kexin Jiang joined the CAW lab in the fall of 2022 to assist with the development of the indigenous vocational basic interest assessment in China. She is currently a 2nd-year doctoral student in educational psychology. Her primary research interests are culturally responsive teaching, teachers’ self-efficacy, personality traits, and the cross-cultural examination of students’ measurements.

Alexander Watt, Undergradaute Student, alexander.m.watt@wsu.edu
Alexander Watt is an undergraduate psychology student at WSU. Alex is currently researching perceptions of academic success in undergraduate students as a WSU Honors thesis research project. He has additional psychology research experience working with the WSU Building Opportunities for Learning and Development (BOLD) Lab performing social psychological research.
