TUD Dresden University of Technology is one of the largest Universities of Technology in Germany and is among the leading and most dynamic universities in the country. In this program, students study in the School of Engineering Sciences and may select the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, the Department of Computer Science, or the Department of Mechanical Sciences and Engineering. Since 2012, TUD has been one of the eleven German Universities of Excellence. Internationally, TUD has earned an excellent reputation as it also enthusiastically welcomes exchange stduents from its international partner universities.
With 17 Faculties across five Schools, it offers a wides range of 119 degree programs and covers a broad spectrum of research. Its focuses on Life Sciences, Quantum Materials, Microelectronics, Tactile Internet, Materials Science, Data-Intensive and Digital Sciences, Circular Economy and Societal Change are considered exemplary across Europe.
In January 2019, three new Clusters of Excellence commenced work: PoL – Physics of Life explores the principles behind the dynamic organization of living matter; ct.qmat – Complexity and Topology in Quantum Matter designs novel quantum materials for revolutionary high tech of tomorrow; and CeTI – Center for Tactile Internet with Human-in-the-Loop pursues the vision of enabling humans to interact in real-time with cyber-physical systems over intelligent wide-area communication networks.
Fellowship Application Deadline: September 30th, 2025
Apply today for a spring ’26 study-&-research abroad program in Germany at the Technology University of Dresden. Admitted students receive a $5,000 Erasmus+ fellowship and are not required to pay tuition in Germany. They will take classes overseas taught in English, transfer credits to WSU, and graduate on time.
There are 2 complementary applications for a complete application packet. These applications must be submitted in parallel.
- The 1st is for the foundational exchange program at the Technology University of Dresden. Please, complete it at this link, after following the steps summarized here. This application is due no later than September 30, 2025.
- The 2nd is for the research component with the $5,000 fellowship. Please, complete it by filling out and submitting the following form. This application is due no later than September 30, 2025.
Required Application Documents
- Resume and WSU transcript (unofficial transcript is fine)
- List of remaining courses prior to graduation, endorsed by the applicant’s academic advisor
- Name, department, and e-mail address of a professor who taught the applicant a course related to Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Science and who is willing to provide a recommendation letter discussing the applicant’s technical skills and potential for research success
- Two-page max, single-spaced motivation letter to describe:
- career goals
- rationale to study in Germany at TU Dresden
- any prior experience with research, internships, international education
- any prior experience with any kind of research related to the TUD program of interest to you
- any prior experience with languages and cultures other than American
