Study abroad at the University of Twente and receive a substantial fellowship!
High-Tech Human-Touch University
Located in Enschede, Netherlands, the University of Twente is a public research university that offers degree programs in the social, physical, and engineering sciences. In this program, students study in the department of electrical engineering, mathematics, and computer science or in the department of high-tech business and entrepreneurship. An entrepreneurial spirit is one of Twente’s core values, as the university styles itself as a university of technology with high social impact. A high-tech, human-touch university, Twente operates in a campus that is the only American-style campus in Netherlands.
Some 3,300 scientists and other professionals work together on cutting-edge research and innovations, providing students with inspiring and real-world educational programs. This enterprising university encourages students to develop an entrepreneurial spirit.
As a research university, the University of Twente emphasizes technical developments and their importance to individuals and society. This is reflected in Twente’s 20 bachelor’s and 31 master’s that are administered by five faculties. This study-abroad opportunity is available to Business and Electrical Engineering students. All bachelor’s and master’s degree-programs at the University of Twente are accredited by NVAO, The Netherlands’ national accreditation organization.
Fellowship Application Deadline: September 15th, 2025
Apply today for a spring ’26 study-&-research abroad program in the Netherlands at the University of Twente. Business and Electrical Engineering students are eligible to apply. Admitted WSU students receive a $6,300 fellowship and are not required to pay tuition in the Netherlands. They will take classes overseas, transfer credits to WSU, and graduate on time.
There are 2 complementary applications for a complete application packet to study at the University of Twente for one semester. These applications must be submitted in parallel.
- The 1st is for the foundational exchange program at the University of Twente. Please, complete it at this link, after following the steps summarized here. This application is due no later than September 2, 2025.
- The 2nd is for the $6,300 fellowship. Please, complete it by filling out and submitting the following form. This application is due no later than September 15, 2025.
Required Application Documents
- Resume and WSU transcript
- List of remaining courses prior to graduation, endorsed by the applicant’s academic advisor
- Name, department, and e-mail address of a professor who taught the applicant a course related, however tangentially, to international business or electrical engineering and who is willing to provide a recommendation letter discussing the applicant’s technical skills and potential for success in a study-abroad program
- Two-page max, single-spaced motivation letter to describe:
- career goals and impact on these goals of a study-abroad experience
- rationale to complete a semester overseas, particularly in the Netherlands
- any prior experience with research, internships, international education
- any prior experience with any kind of business research, particularly if in international business, or electrical engineering
- any prior experience with languages and cultures other than American
