July 1-29, 2016 – Daniella Echeagaray (Moses Lake high school student) joined in our lab, and then successfully completed her internship with the Upward Bound Program. This program is an innovative STEM educational outreach program “Pumping Up the Math and Science Pipeline: Grade School to College” organized by Dr. David Weller and Kathleen Parker (USDA-ARS). Daniella spent one month in the lab to learn laboratory techniques and skills in molecular plant pathology and also the scientific discipline of her special interest.  She also engaged in communication with all members in the lab through group and weekly lab meetings to advance her knowledge and experience in plant sciences. Special thanks to her mentor, Dr. Tripathi.
