Hydrogen Systems

Hydrogen is believed to be the primary fuel for the future green economy. Our focus is primarily on high-energy-dense cryogenic hydrogen. We collaborate with WSU HYPER Lab in developing hydrogen systems for our industry partners (world-leading energy, aerospace and high-tech companies). We also conduct fundamental research on cryogenic hydrogen with support from NSF and DOE.

Below are images from one of our hydrogen projects. An example of a novel device we have developed is a catalytic vortex tube that both cools hydrogen and accelerates para/ortho conversion. We have produced the first-in-the-world additively manufactured miniature vortex tube made of titanium.
