Wyatt Kiff is a Ph.D. student in Material Science and Engineering, currently investigating how aluminosilicate composition and structure control crystallization pathways and polymorphic transformation in glassy systems; with methods including advanced thermal analysis, in-situ characterization, and classical molecular dynamics. Wyatt’s research interests include applications of glass and ceramics in sustainability, thermodynamics, kinetics, mass transport, phase transformations, and crystallography. His studies at Alfred University exposed him to glass and ceramics, where he previously researched solid-state sintering of lunar regolith via microwave heating, and earned a bachelors in glass science engineering with a thesis studying the electrostatic contributions of ionic mobility in metaphosphate glass systems. Outside of research, he stays inspired by the arts and sharing experiences with others climbing, skiing, and hiking.
