Postdoctoral Researchers Needed (Jan 2022)

 

Currently looking for at least two post-docs for ceramics and glass projects within NOME and the Institute of Materials Research.

Contract is estimated at 2 y to start. Must be willing to relocate to Pullman, WA.

Must possess expertise in at least two of the subareas in the following broad topics:

ADVANCED CHARACTERIZATION

  • Solid State Nuclear Magnetic Resonance
  • X-ray Absorbance Spectroscopy (XANES, EXAFS, XES)
  • Raman spectroscopy (including mapping, high temperature, data fitting)
  • X-ray diffraction (including Rietveld refinement, synchrotron)
  • Semiconductor defect spectroscopy (DLTS, TEES, TL)

ADVANCED SYNTHESIS

  • Crystal growth of oxides (Czochralski, Skull melting)
  • Conversion of carbon and synthesis of carbides
  • Very high temperature synthesis, 1400-2000 C in inert/vacuum
  • Hot pressing, hot isostatic pressing
  • Melt quenching of oxide glasses
