Wearable soft devices for individual health monitoring

Recent emergence of soft and flexible electronics brought the unique opportunity of realizing smart systems that perfectly conform to and work with the human body while precisely monitoring its changes. Synergistic combination of these technologies with emerging network frameworks such as internet of things is expected to transform the healthcare by substantially reducing the response time and costs. In our lab, we work to design, fabricate soft and flexible sensors that conform to the human body and its properties, and can accurately monitor changes of its shape, temperature and biochemical state. We focus on ultra-soft silicone as the structural material and utilize non-volatile room temperature liquid conductors. We leverage additive manufacturing to realize unique sensor designs  with optimal functionality. Our research follows an holistic approach and considers the sensor design, fabrication and signal processing as interconnected.
